Starliner is a next generation space capsule which is used to carry peoples to space and do further scientific researches for future mission and it is build by BOEING
STARLINER’S FIRST FLIGHT TO SPACE
Starliner was launched from space launch complex 41 at florida’s cape canaveral air force station on dec 21,2019. It is uncrewed test flight.
The boeing’s CST-100 Starliner was carried to space by United launch Alliance(ULA) Atlas V rocket
The launch was successfully taken place, But the starliner did not reach the planned orbit and dock with ISS.
It is due to the capsule had burned too much of it’s propellant for several minutes,so Boeing and NASA determined to bring back the capsule to earth without fulfilling the planned mission.
Jim Chilton,senior vice president of boeing’s space and launch division,said that “we started the clock at the wrong time”.
RETURN TO EARTH
At an altitdue of around 900 metres the capsule released its bottom heat shield and six airbags are deployed for a soft touch.
The Starliner also uses a proven parachute and airbag system to land on ground
Boeing’s Starliner space capsule touched down at white sands,New Mexico on sunday,Dec 22, 2019.
Boeing is competing with SpaceX to develop commercial launch systems to restart NASA’s human spaceflight capacity.
SpaceX already launched an unmanned Crew Dragon spacecraft to the ISS last March, moving CEO’s Elon Musk’s upstart company ahead of the aerospace giant in terms of proven technical capabilities.
